Visiting Great-Grandmother Lohr

Kevin, Kerriann and I visited my Grandma Lohr in Lorida, FL over Valentine's Day weekend... it was a lot of fun and I am so glad that Grandma was finally able to meet Kevin and Kerriann.  It was a long trip (9.5 hrs each way) and I was REALLY sick, but it was totally worth it.

We arrived in Lorida on Friday night and spent that evening visiting and catching up.  We spent Saturday just hanging out since I was sick and it was REALLY cold outside for Florida standards (50's).  Kevin wanted to go to Sea World, but it was a 2 hr drive and not worth it since the weather wasn't great (promised him we would go see Shamu next time though!).  On Sunday we went to Grandma's church and then went out for a great lunch.  The restaurant was packed and every single person that walked by had to stop and check Kerriann out.  Luckily she was in a great mood and wanted to chat with everyone!  That evening we took a walk down the canal behind Grandma's house and out to the point that looks out onto Lake Istopoka.  It was very romantic, even with Grandma and Kerriann along ;).  By Monday morning it was time to pack up and head back to Enterprise so Kevin could make it back in time for class the next day.  It was so sad to leave Grandma, but it was a great visit and we left knowing that we will visit her again as soon as possible!

Below are a few of many pictures from our weekend with Grandma Lohr... hope you enjoy them!
Excited to meet great-grandma!

She was so relaxed the entire time... I wish she was always that good!

It was hard to get a picture of all 3 of us looking good!

Our little heart breaker... Happy Valentine's Day!

Of course, Kerriann sleeps in on Sunday morning so we had to wake her up for the first time EVER for church (she slept until 9:45!)

Kerriann fell in love with Grandma's singing cat so she let her take it home!  As soon as I figure out how to post videos I will post one of this... so cute!

The Blizzard of 2010

Yes, even in southern Alabama we got a small dose of it!  On Friday morning Kevin woke up at 7 to get ready to head to Ft. Rucker for study hours, I rolled back over... ready to drift back into sweet slumber when he announced "IT'S SNOWING!"  Of course I jumped quickly out of bed and ran to the window.  If we were still living in the north this never would have happened, but in LA (lower Alabama) snow days are few and far between.  Schools were of course closed and they were not allowing people to enter Ft. Rucker until 9am so it was officially a snow day!  We took this as a great opportunity to get on the road early.  We were supposed to be leaving for Grandma Lohr's house in Lorida, FL later that afternoon, but were happy to leave by 10:30am.  As much as I would have loved to lay in bed and watch the snow fall onto our pool from our bedroom window, it was fun to see snowmen being built in many yards on our way out.  Below are some pictures from the snow:

Never thought we would see snow in our back yard

Of course we had to get a picture in it

Kerriann's new high chair

Yesterday Kerriann's high chair arrived and we wasted no time trying it out.  It has so many neat features-7 reclining positions, 7 different heights, 2 removeable dishwasher safe trays, etc.!  It was a wonderful gift from Kerriann's Grandma McDonough and Grandpa Lohr.  Last night was the first time Kevin and I have enjoyed a dinner before Kerriann's bedtime at the dinner table... she was such a good girl for us!  You could tell she loved sitting at the table and being a part of the family.  She even finished all of her peas.  Below are some pictures from her first time in the high chair:

Where am I?
Hmm still trying to decide if I like this thing

Just kidding... I LOVE it!
Hurry up with the food before I eat my bib!

There we go...
Mmm...
Yummy!

I love my new high chair!  Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!

Kerriann's 6 month stats

Kerriann had her 6 month check-up on Feb. 4, a day after her 6 month birthday!  We were finally able to convince Daddy to let us go back to the civilian doctor that we saw for the first few months of her life.  I was SO relieved to see Dr. Brown again.  He answered so many questions that the army doctors could not.

At 6 months Kerriann is 13 lbs 5 oz and 25 in long!  She has gained over a pound in the past month and has doubled her birth weight.  She is only in the 10th percentile for weight, but the doctors are not concerned.  She is hitting all developmental milestones on time, if not early.  We are so proud of our little girl and how far she has come in the past 6 months!  On Feb. 3 it was so weird to think of what I was doing Aug. 3, and to think of everything we have been through since then.  Below are a few pictures of Kerriann over the past few months so you can see how much she has changed:

Swimming 2/6/10

On Saturday morning we took Kerriann swimming for the first time.  A couple of our friends, Lisa and Matt, were telling us how they started taking their daughter, Sydney, at 8 weeks old, so we thought KA was way overdue!  There is a heated pool at the gym on base so we met up with our friends there.  Though the pool was heated, the air was still really cold.  So cold air mixed with a baby who hadn't napped all morning didn't make for a happy girl.  We could tell she was TRYING to have fun, but she was shaking she was so cold, poor thing!  We tried borrowing Sydney's little shirt to act as a wet suit but it wasn't much help.  Matt used to be a swim instructor and told us that if you blow in their face they will close their eyes and hold their breath so you can dunk them.  We gave it a try and she didn't mind at all... it was so cute!  Next time we go back we will have to get a video.  Below are a few pictures... KA's faces in them are priceless ;).
