Spring is here!

Spring is finally here and we are MORE than ready for some warm weather!  It has been an unusually cold winter here in the south.  I just can't wait to take Kerriann to the park and go for lots of long walks without having to bundle her up!  This week we are supposed to have weather in the 70's... which I know probably seems HOT to everyone up north, but really that is cold for southeastern Alabama.

Below are a few spring pictures taken recently that I wanted to share with everyone.  Hope you enjoy!

Kerriann's first St. Patrick's Day!

For St. Patrick's Day this year we had a belated celebration over the weekend, since the holiday fell on a Wednesday.  St. Patrick's Day has always been an important holiday in my family.  My Mom's side of the family, the McDonough's are obviously Irish, and now that I am part of another Irish family (the Herlihy's) we have even more to celebrate!

We attended Spring Fest with Kevin's parents, and Katie and I made Irish Soda Bread (compliments of Lisa Herlihy's recipe) on Sunday morning.  Below are a few pictures of our little Irish baby in her St. Patrick's Day outfits.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
So excited!

Katie and Tom's visit

I apologize for again getting very behind on my blogging!  Things have been busy around here lately. Last week we spent a lot of time working on the house and preparing it for our first overnight guests in a very long time.  Kevin's parents, Katie and Tom, were able to visit us from Friday to Tuesday morning.  Before their arrival, we had to clean out the office and turn it into a guest room.  This took a good two days!  After that we had to find a futon... and we also had a lot of picture hanging to do.  Lucky for me, Kerriann has been consistently napping for the past couple of weeks... FINALLY!  It is such a relief to have between an hour and two hours to myself during the day.  The house is orderly and both she and I are in much better moods throughout the days.

While Katie and Tom were in town we mostly just visited with them and let them get their Kerriann fix since they haven't seen her since New Years.  On Saturday we went to "Spring Fest" at Ft. Rucker, which turned out to be a bust.  It was a really nice day (Kevin even got a sunburn!), but not much going on that we could participate in.  It would have been perfect if Kerriann was a few years older.  On Monday, Kevin had class so Katie, Kerriann and I went wedding dress shopping... but I'll update more on that later :).

We were so sad to see them go... but we hope to be seeing much more of them in the near future ;).

Below are a few pictures from Katie and Tom's visit... Enjoy!

Kerriann's first beach trip

On Sunday we took Kerriann to the beach for the first time!  My sorority sister Kristen lives there and I have been meaning to visit her for awhile... the forecast was calling for 65 and sunny so we figured it would be the perfect day.  Our other sister, Kelly, was visiting for her spring break... so we were able to catch up with her too.  It was so great to see both of them!  We met for brunch with some of Kristen's friends and then went to the beach after we were finished.  The meal was delicious!  The beach was a little chilly, but we couldn't go all that way without braving the cold for a few minutes ;).

Below are some pictures from our day... we can't wait to visit Kristen again when the weather is warmer!

Memory Monday-Cruise '08

Today's Memory Monday is dedicated to our cruise to Mexico!  Kevin was finishing training at Ft. Benning, GA at the same time as my spring break, so I flew to Atlanta, GA to meet him.  After that we drove down the coast stopping along the way in Pensacola to stay the night and check out the naval museum and took a cruise out of Mobile, AL.  The ship made stops for us to explore the Chichen Itza Mayan ruins in Yucatan, Mexico and Progreso, Mexico where we rented dune buggies and took a trip to a light house and also went snorkeling.  After the cruise we drove through Texas making stops in Austin to visit my Uncle David, Aunt Lisa, and cousins Colin and Kevin, and to check out the local nightlife.  We made our final stop in Dallas, TX where I caught a flight back to WV.  Kevin started his training at Ft. Sill, OK shortly after.

It was a great trip and we can't wait to do something like that again!  Below are a few pictures from the week... we have so many beautiful ones it was hard to narrow them down.

KA 7 month update

The past few weeks have been SO busy... not that we have been doing anything exciting... but Kerriann has really been keeping me busy!  She has NOT been napping.  She will sleep 30 minutes a day... tops!  And even getting that much sleep out of her is a struggle.  I am trying my hardest to stay patient but it is so draining waking up at 4am and then 6am to start the day and going nonstop until bedtime.  I have been putting her to bed at 6pm because she is so overtired by the evenings.  Kevin's schedule switched last week from 10:30am-8pm to 7:30am-5pm.  He has been getting home just in time to kiss Kerriann goodnight.

I don't have an update as far as weight and height, but you can tell that Kerriann is growing steadily.  She has really started to fill out lately.  She is eating between 1 and 2 jars of baby food each day so that makes sense!  So far she has tried sweet potatoes, green beans, peas, prunes, pears,  and applesauce.  She has also had a sip of pear juice but didn't seem that interested.  We have been working on getting her to drink from a straw sippy cup and hope that she will become a pro with that.  This will make it easier for us to give up our fight with the bottle.

Kerriann now has her two bottom teeth... and we're sure that more will be on the way soon!

Kerriann is now saying "Dadadada" and "Babababa"... hopefully "Mamama" will be next on her list!  She loves squealing and "talking."  Everyone comments on how vocal she is when we take her out.  She just loves to be the center of attention!

Kerriann is also practicing her crawling movements now.  She can get up on her hands and knees and kicks her arms and legs while on her tummy like she wants to go.  She's also able to roll and spin her body to get to where she wants to go.  We think she will be crawling any day now... but secretly hope that she will at least hold off until we finish baby proofing the house ;).

Happy 7 months Kerriann!

This was the first time we found her in the crawling position (while resisting a nap!)
Of course we didn't care that she wasn't sleeping... because we were so excited to see her new accomplishment!
Fighting another nap... but being too cute for us to resist a photo op (again)
Check out my teeth!
